The Capital reports that the Maryland Department of Natural Resources has proposed a significant increase in boat registration fees. The registration fees would be scaled for boats based on size, and will include sailboats 16 feet or larger, including those without motors, for the first time.
The proposed fees are one step to make up for increased costs and reduced revenues for dredging and other waterway and public boating facilitities maintenance tasks. The proposal was submitted to the General Assembly today. Read the full story here.
