Former colleagues are slated to remember and pay tribute to the late John S. Toll, the 25th president of Washington College, at a service on campus Thursday, September 15, at 4 p.m. in Decker Theatre, Gibson Center for the Arts, 300 Washington Avenue.
Toll, who died July 15 in Bethesda, served Washington College from January 1995 through June of 2004. What began as an interim appointment for the former Chancellor of the University of Maryland System turned into a transformative decade of leadership in Chestertown.
Former colleagues and friends slated to speak at the service include former Chair of the Board of Visitors and Governors Jay Griswold, former Board member John Moag, and former Dean and Provost of the College Joachim Scholz. A nephew, Stephen S. Dunham, who serves as Vice President and General Counsel at Johns Hopkins University, will speak on behalf of the family.
The memorial service is free and open to the public. A reception will follow.
