Donald L. “Butch” Bozarth of Rock Hall, MD died on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at Chester River Hospital Center. He was 70.
He was born on March 27, 1941 in Fremont, Nebraska, the son of the late Ivan Leroy Bozarth and Evelyn Hazel Smith Pollard.
Mr. Bozarth served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1961 in Germany and was honorably discharged. He returned to Fremont and on January 15, 1960 married Barbara Jean Mead. They resided in many places across the country before settling down in Rock Hall in 1973.
Mr. Bozarth worked at Park Cleaners in Chestertown, MD and soon began his career as a self employed waterman, harvesting crabs and fish. He retired in 1987. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family and his friends. He was a member of the Sgt. Preston Ashley American Legion Post #228 in Rock Hall, MD and the V.F.W. in Millington, MD.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters; Tammy Cowgill and husband Bobby of Harrington, DE and Shelly Surprenant and husband Douglas of Kill Devil Hills, NC, a son ; David Bozarth and friend Janet of Kennedyville, MD, two sisters; Romona Vickers of Chestertown, MD and Renae “Pickles” Bozarth of Worton, MD, five brothers; Roland “Rocky” Bozarth of Goldsboro, MD, Lonnie “Boomer” Bozarth of Sudlersville, MD, Robert “Nubbins” Bozarth of Tolchester, MD, Randy Bozarth of Millington, MD, Roger “Stinky” Bozarth of Chestertown, MD and Bob Schneider of California, ten grandchildren; Megan, Matthew, Elizabeth, Angie, Dani, Jay, David Jr., Dustin, Shey and Abby, seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers; Ronald “Ronnie” Bozarth and Rodney “Boscoe” Bozarth and one sister; Donna Ashley.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Sgt. Preston Ashley Post #228 in Rock Hall, MD.
