James Warner Jacquette of Rock Hall, MD died Friday, April 1, 2011 at the Chester River Hospital Center in Chestertown, MD. He was 85.
James W. Jacquette was born May 27, 1925 in Rock Hall, MD the son of the late Charles S. Jacquette Sr. and Addie “Warner” Jacquette. He attended Rock Hall High School and worked on his family’s farm. Mr. Jacquette and his wife then became school bus contractors for Kent County Public Schools, where they drove for 30+ years. Mr. Jacquette also worked as a truck driver for Southern States until his retirement. He was a member of the Rock Hall Vol. Fire Co. and Rock Hall Marching Band. He was an active member of Wesley Chapel Church and helped organize the Wesley Chapel “Ole Time Fish Fry”. He enjoyed vegetable gardening, playing cards with his friends and family, taking bus trips and especially enjoyed family gatherings.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Ann Schauber Jacquette, two sisters – Gladys Frazier and Edna George, one brother – Charles Jacquette Jr. and one great-grandson – Luke Abbott.
He is survived by two daughters, Betty Ann Strong and husband Buffalo of Chestertown, MD, Frances Rodney and husband George of Rock Hall, MD, two sons, James W. Jacquette Jr. and wife Andrea of Rock Hall, MD, Gerald Jacquette and wife Nita of Rock Hall, MD. Eight grandchildren, Sheila Pierce of Rock Hall, MD, Billy Reihl of New York, Jamie Strong of Chestertown, MD, Sarah Davis of Rock Hall, MD, Tyler Rodney of Stevensville, MD, Buck Jacquette of Rock Hall, MD, Kendall Jacquette of Rock Hall, MD, Gladye Jacquette of Rock Hall, MD. Four great- grandchildren – Brody Pierce, Brianna Pierce, Trista Strong, and Taylor Strong.
A visitation will be held Thursday, April 7, 2011 from 6-8pm at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home 130 Speer Rd. Chestertown, MD. Services will be held Friday, April 8, 2011 at 1pm at Wesley Chapel Church in Rock Hall, MD. Interment will be held in Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
