The juice may soon be running again at the public landings at Long Cove and Skinners Neck. At Tuesday’s meeting Director of Public Works Wayne Morris informed the commissioners that he had obtained two grants from the Department of Natural Resources to bring the outlets and wiring up to code on boat slips at the landings.
“What’s out there now is not up to code and not safe,” said Morris. “I don’t know who did it.”
Outlets on the pier will be placed higher up, moving them out of the water line. Waterproof conduit wiring will be used. The cost of the upgrade will be $8,000.
“We’re [just] doing what we’re obligated to do,” said Morris. He said more outlets can be added onto the system at a later date if needed.
