Host Dickinson College defeated visiting Washington College, 5-1, this afternoon in the Centennial Conference men’s soccer opener for both schools.
The Red Devils (5-0-1 overall) scored twice in the first half as Thomas Parkinsonfound Javier Mena for a goal at 15:09 and Dale Rodman scored at 29:54. Dickinson’s Thomas Parkinson made it 3-0 16 seconds into the second half and Rodman assisted on a goal by Mena at 51:28. David Lister rounded out the Dickinson scoring at 68:10 on a double assist from Sun Woo Kim and Mark Lyle.
The Shoremen (2-4) got on the board at 79:58 when junior forward Jordan Haas(Wyomissing, PA/Wilson) scored on a penalty kick. That goal was the first Dickinson has allowed this season.
The Red Devils held a 30-6 advantage in shots in the game. Washington junior goalkeeper Chris Phipps (Newark, DE/St. Mark’s) made 13 saves and allowed five goals while playing the first 70:55 of the game.
The Shoremen return to action Wednesday with a 7:00 p.m. non-conference home game against Widener.
