Garden Puppet Theatre Mini-Museum Exhibit
Time: Mon-Fri: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., Sat-Sun: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Location: Kent County Visitor Center, Chestertown
The Garden Puppet Theatre Mini-Museum, located in the Kent County Visitor Center, will hold an exhibit featuring a variety of puppets among Tea Party teapots. This month’s exhibit will include Colonial George & Martha Washington, Kent County’s Rosie’s Posies, Peter Green and polar bear Roly Poly plus a special tribute to Jim Henson and his puppets. A celebration of George Washington’s favorite color green and Keeping America Beautiful. This event runs the entire month of June.

Working Artist Forum Annual Judged Show

This annual judged show features artists from all counties on the Eastern Shore. Their best work competes for top prizes and is worth seeing. For information call 410-778-7300. This exhibit runs through June 30.

“The Real Dirt on Farmer John”
Time: 7 p.m.
Location: The Prince Theatre, Chestertown
The Chestertwon Spy presents “The Real Dirt on Farmer John,” a Marty Fujita film project. Benefit performance for Colchester Farm CSA. Discussion to follow the film.

“The Word Girls”
Time: 5:30 p.m.
Location: Bookplate, 112 S. Cross St., Chestertown
This is a poetry reading by three well known poets. Meredith Davies Hadaway, author of two books of poetry, works and teaches at Washington College. Kim Garcia is the recipient of an AWP Intro Writing Award and 2009 X.J. Kennedy Award. She teaches at Boston College. Erin Murphy has two recent books and teaches at Penn State Altoona.

Annual Golf Tournament Fundraiser

Dr. Robert Abel Jr., M.D. – Book Signing

This is a book reading and signing by Dr. Robert Abel Jr., M.D. He will be reading from two of his books, “Lumi’s Book of Eyes” and “Lethal Hindsight.” Dr. Abel is an ophthalmologist, educator and author featured in many publications, radio and television. Refreshments will be served.

Join together with area businesses, organizations, and volunteers to teach children how to fish – not just for the sport of it, but for the family values it can instill. Sultana Projects Public Paddles

Location: Bogles Wharf on the Chester River
Spend a morning with Sultana Projects trained staff paddling some of the most pristine sections of the National Park Service’s new Captain John Smith Chesapeake National Historic Water Trail as well as adjacent river trails. Kent County Septic Upgrade Workshop
Time: 10 a.m. – noon
Location: 24046 Macs Lane, Worton
In conjunction with two Kent County homeowners, the Sassafras River Association will be hosting on-site septic workshops for anyone interested in upgrading their septic system to a new, denitrifying system. The workshop will include how to apply for state grant funding for your new system; overview of how the denitrifying system operates, system energy requirements, costs, maintenance, etc.; manufacturer’s representative with a display model to answer questions; homeowners available to answer questions about their experiences with the denitrifying system; and a Bay Restoration Fund expert on-site to discuss funding opportunities.
