Domestic Dispute

March 26, 2010 by Simon Kelly

Some men would think to bring flowers to an estranged wife.  Jason Martinez allegedly thought to show up with a red aluminum baseball bat.

It was not well received.

Katie Martinez dialed 9-1-1. Queen Anne’s deputies responded to her report of a burglary in progress with the suspect still on the property, a trailer home in Crumpton.

According to the official report, “The female victim advised that her estranged husband Jason had broken into the trailer through a living room window [and] approached the master bedroom, wielding a red aluminum bat.”

Apparently another man, Zachary Austin of Crumpton, was on the premises.

In the official wording, “An argument ensued and escalated to Jason striking Zachary with the bat. A struggle between the two men ensued and Jason goes into the wall, damaging the wall.”

After that, and it’s not clear how, both men exited the trailer, and Mrs. Martinez called the sheriff’s department.

Writes the perplexed investigator: “Then it appears that the two men left together in Jason’s SUV. While sheriff’s units are at the scene, Zachary returns home on foot about an hour later. Zachary advised that he left with the subject because Jason wanted to talk with him. Jason Martinez then dropped Zachary off a short distance away and fled the area before he could be located.”

Martinez, 28, of Dover, is now wanted for burglary and assault.
