A man and two young women are facing attempted murder charges today, stemming from a strange ruckus with a Chestertown woman that occurred at a house trailer behind the Prime Outlets on Rt. 301.
Queen Anne’s County sheriff’s deputies dispatched to the scene met with Ivy Lockwood, 22, of Chestertown, who reported she had been assaulted by several people at a trailer located next to the antiques building that’s shaped like a drum.
Lockwood told officers she had stayed at the trailer home of Amanda Weaver, 21, of Queenstown, for several days. After she left, Weaver complained that several items including a camera and iPod were missing.
Weaver called Lockwood, who returned to the trailer with Derak Kenneth Seward, 23, of Barclay. They were met by Weaver and Jewell Elizabeth Bedwell, 21, of Denton.
According to a report by Lt. Dale Patrick of the sheriff’s department, the following weird events unfolded:
An argument started when Lockwood was accused of stealing the camera and iPod. Then the camera was located. So Lockwood went outside and got into Seward’s truck.
Bedwell and Weaver dragged her from the truck while Seward held a knife to her throat.
Lockwood was dragged across a gravel parking lot to a ditch at the rear of the Outlets, where the three held her head under water several times, until she told them where the iPod was.
Lockwood was then dragged back to Seward’s truck and tossed into the bed. But before Seward could drive off, Lockwood jumped out and ran to the Xtra Mart and called for help.
Patrol deputies arrived and detained the three suspects until detectives arrived.
Lockwood was transported to Dorchester General Hospital for treatment. During transport, she was reported to have lost consciousness and stopped breathing, requiring treatment by paramedics.
Weaver, Seward and Bedwell were all charged with attempted murder in first and second degrees, conspiracy to commit attempted murder and assault in the first degree. The three were held without bail pending review by a District Court Judge.
