On Sunday, September 11, at 10 a.m., Rev. Keith Goheen will give a sermon entitled “The Communion of Healers: Soul Work at the Bedside” for the Unitarian Universalists of the Chester River, 914 Gateway Dr., Chestertown. Rev. Goheen explains, “Hospitals are houses of change, and changes associated with physical illness impact our spiritual lives as well as our physical ones. As a hospital chaplain, my clinical specialty is attending to change’s spiritual dimensions. I seek answers to questions such as ‘How does spiritual health differ from spiritual distress, and how does the soul impact spiritual healing?’ This morning, I will focus on the relational dimensions of spiritual care, and invite you to consider how the life of this congregation contributes to spiritual health.”
Special music for the service will be performed by local pianist Dick Durham.
The morning will also include a “Water Communion” ceremony.
Religious education for elementary age youngsters, and childcare for infants and toddlers, will be provided during the service.
Join us for this celebration and discussion; all are welcome.
