The stormy weather on July First Friday was apparently no hindrance to the more than two hundred people who cast ballots for their favorite work in RiverArts’ “Rural Life” exhibit. Cindy Fulton’s work, “Hidden Treasure,” received the People’s Choice award, close runner up was “Barclay Valley,” by Jeff Arbogast.
The show, curated by Barbara and Jack Fancher, features photographs and paintings of Eastern Shore life from seining and crabbing on the river to roosters, tractors, and Model T Fords. Highlights include a turtle necklace by Joan Strand, Sue Wright’s vest made from local Shetland Sheep wool, and a Dave Simmons carving.
A ‘Country’ themed “Humans of Kent County” is on view in the RiverArts Studio gallery. Both exhibits will be up through the month of July.
