Radiant summer weather greeted revelers and period reenactors to the 40th Chestertown Tea Party last weekend. The Spy applauds the Tea Party Committee and the efforts of countless volunteers, police and town officials for serving up a perfect series of events to delight its thousands of guests. Artisan vendors, historical lectures, children’s plays, the annual parade, music on every corner and the main stage, wine tasting and, of course, the ritual tossing of the tea from the Schooner Sultana, offered something for every taste.
Even the redcoats, perennial losers in their fight to maintain British loyalty, raised a toast in good cheer to their colonial brethren. Perhaps they knew it’s never too late to repatriate.
Here are a few moments from the weekend.

I have no idea who puts the T-Party parade together but everyone I talked to that watched the parade couldn’t get over how lacking it was compared to parades of past years. I didn’t get downtown but did hear it was great and the “hot dogs” were wonderful!!! Sure wish I had gone down if for nothing else but to get one as they are one of my most favorite things. It was great to hear the T-Party as a whole was it’s usual wonderful week-end!!
