It’s lucky Friday the 13th this month when master guitarist and fan favorite Albert Cummings performs at 8PM on the stage of the Garfield Center in Chestertown. This Massachusetts native is known for his energetic live shows featuring guitar-driven, up tempo blues originals sprinkled with crowd- pleasing covers of classic Muddy Waters, Little Feat, and perhaps even some Zeppelin.
Cummings is touring in support of his latest cd, “Someone Like You,” recorded in California with Grammy-winning producer David Z. Originally a banjo player, Cummings credits the late great blues guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughn as his inspiration to get serious about the electric guitar. Since his 2003 solo debut recording he has played with many blues legends, including BB King, Johnny Winter and Buddy Guy, honing his chops along the way.
This show is the third in a series of six Blues at the Garfield concerts. Upcoming shows include the Sherman Holmes/Brooks Long Project on September 9, and the Nighthawks in the fall.
Tickets to the Friday, May 13th concert are $30/$20 for students, and are available on line at www.GarfieldCenter.org or by calling the box office at 410 810 2060.
The Garfield Center for the Arts at the Prince Theatre is located at 210 High Street, Chestertown, MD, 21620.
