On Sunday, Oct 18, 10 a.m., Dr. John LaFerla will give a sermon entitled “Inclusion” to the Unitarian Universalists of the Chester River, 914 Gateway Dr., Chestertown. Unitarian Universalists pride themselves on being not only tolerant of diversity, but also as striving to open their doors and welcome those who have been victimized by discrimination. Notice our own opening words each Sunday morning.
But the reality does not match our words. . . . Why not?
John LaFerla will share the words of Dr. Miguel A. De La Torre (a speaker at UUA’s General Assembly) on the discordance between our words and actions in becoming open to diversity. Listen to his challenging remarks and suggestions for changes we could make that would transform our church and help us become more truly the beloved community.
Kent County vocal artist Karen Somerville will sing during the service.
Religious exploration for youngsters and childcare for infants and toddlers will be provided during the service. All are welcome; please call 410-778-3440 for more information.
