For the third year, Chestertown RiverArts and Community Mediation Upper Shore are joining together to produce “Art in Bloom”, a celebration of the art of floral design. This June 14-15, the RiverArts Galleries will be full of floral arrangements inspired by the artworks exhibited by RiverArts’ June exhibition, “The Artist’s Touch”, a judged show of paintings and sculpture.
Some dozen floral designers will interpret the art on the walls. Don’t expect to see traditional bouquets. Last year there were such arrangements as roses coming out of a violin, some bubbling water, a giant window box, and an arch of flowers over a pond.
On Sunday, June 14, from 4-7pm all are invited to a Private Reception to view the arrangements and artwork while enjoying music, gourmet hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, and a silent auction of exciting trips, services, and gifts. A ticket for this Preview Reception is $25.
Now in its second year, there will be a Fashion Show and Champagne Celebration on Monday, June 15, from 3-5pm at RiverArts. See the latest fashions from Houston’s Dockside Emporium, Mimi’s Closet, and Houck’s Menswear over champagne and hors d’oeuvres. A ticket for this show is $35.
Proceeds from “Art in Bloom” go to support Community Mediation Upper Shore, whose mission is to provide accessible conflict resolution services through mediation, education and training for the folks of Kent, Queen Anne’s and Cecil Counties, and Chestertown RiverArts, a community arts center with a spectacular gallery and an extensive program of exhibitions, education, and community outreach activities.
Tickets for these shows may be purchased in advance by calling RiverArts at 410-778-6300 or stopping by the RiverArts Galleries at 315 High Street, Suite 106. Regular hours are Tuesday-Friday, 11-4, First Friday, 11-8, and Saturday, 10-4. You may also buy tickets on line at the RiverArts website, www.chestertownriverarts.org. Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity to be inspired by these creative floral arrangements.
