United Way of Kent County is pleased to report that its 2014-2015 campaign, with four months remaining, is now at 90% of its $190,000 goal.
UWKC Board President Alan Chesney and Campaign Chair Bill MacIntosh thank all those donors who have contributed so generously, but are quick to note that even if the campaign’s dollar goal is achieved, not all of the pressing needs of the community will be met. They comment that particularly critical during these winter months are United Way member agencies that provide emergency services funds for heat, utilities, shelter and food. However, the on-going needs for mediation, the disabled, mental health and investment in our Kent County youth do not take the winter off.
Contributions through payroll deduction at one’s place of work are a growing component of the campaign, and Chesney expresses his appreciation to those local companies who have worked with UWKC to facilitate year-round giving. Chesney notes “A programmed donation of five or ten dollars per paycheck is an amount that most employees will discover is a very easy and painless way to support the services of our member agencies. The employee won’t miss the amount deducted, and a Kent County recipient won’t miss a meal.”
Donations may be made by check to “United Way of Kent County” at P.O. Box 594, Chestertown, MD, 21620. UWKC’s website, www.unitedwayofkentcounty.org has full descriptions of each member agency’s programs and provides links to each of the agencies and the ability to accept online contributions.
