David Hildebrand performs authentic music of the WAR OF 1812, appearing in appropriate period attire. He sings and plays upon period guitars and flutes of several sorts.Ballads and popular songs highlight party politics, dramatize great sea battles and laud heroes like Isaac Hull and Oliver Hazzard Perry.
Expect the local favorite “The Battle of Baltimore,” as well as the true telling of the birth of “The Star-Spangled Banner” in September, 1814, dispelling several lingering myths along the way. Dr. Hildebrand is a national expert on early American music, involved in performing, research, teaching, consulting, and publications for over 30 years.
