The Queen Anne’s County Office of the Sheriff reports that managers at the Food Lion store reported finding the contents of an entire meat case with the contents having bleach poured onto packages. Ninety-Six (96) packages of chicken and pork with an approximate value of $700 were removed from the case. Security video showed at 9:23 PM on the 26, a white male entered the store, walked to the meat case and leaned over the case poured bleach in several areas. He then dropped the empty bleach bottle in an aisle and left. Upon becoming aware of the incident, management immediately removed all of the packages from the sales area.

One of the managers viewed the security footage and was able to identify the suspect as a former employee, John Waskey. An Arrest Warrant for Mr. Waskey was issued on 01/28/2012 charging him with MDOP, Theft and Contaminating Food.

Anyone who may have purchased a contaminated package of meat is asked to contact Food Lion in Stevensville.

    Gotta be more to this,

Bleach, in small quantities. is sprayed in food processing. But dumping the stuff where people will get bleach (usually 2% Cl & 98% water) on skin & maybe in eyes is mean and dangerous.

I don’t care what this guy’s beef with management was….that is mean and dangerous!
