Susan Cole Meredith of Crumpton, MD died Saturday, April 9, 2011 at Easton Memorial Hospital in Easton, MD. She was 56.
Susan C. Meredith was born Sept. 23, 1954 in Chestertown, MD the daughter of Howard M. Cole and Betty Lou “Bayne” Cole. Susan was a 1972 graduate of Queen Anne’s County High School. In 1978 she married her late husband, Edward Wayne “Bunky” Meredith on St. Patrick’s Day. In her early 20’s she sold Real Estate before opening a daycare in Crumpton. Their daughter arrived on Valentine’s Day of 1983 from South Korea and shortly after, they moved to Greensboro MD, where she and Bunky continued to raise their family. In September of 1989 they adopted their son, and continued living in Greensboro until 2001 at which time they returned to Crumpton. Susan dreamed of being a writer, but found the most joy in raising her family and serving the Lord. Most recently she worked as the secretary for Asbury United Methodist Church, a position she held for ten years. She served on the ad council, she was the Charge Treasurer and involved in Pastor Parish Relations. She was one of the founders of Hope Fellowship and considered this one of her greatest accomplishments. She was a member of the Crumpton United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and embraced her role as a mother. She was very proud of her work in helping to raise over $2,000, in 2010 for the American Kidney Foundation in memory of her sister.
In addition to her parents, and husband she was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Celeste Cole in 2009.
She is survived by one daughter, Kristen M. Meredith of Stevensville, MD, one son, Eric W. Meredith of Crumpton, MD, and one brother, Gregory M. Cole of Crumpton, MD.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at 4pm at Crumpton United Methodist Church. Interment will be private.
