Blessings overflowed as Saints Peter & Paul Elementary School students shared their musical talents and performed for their extended school families at Saints Peter & Paul Church on Thursday evening, December 15, 2022. As students sang traditional carols and a couple of newer favorites, their angelic voices reminded each attendee of the true meaning of Christmas. Students also performed instrumental selections. The students truly enjoyed sharing their spirit with the packed house as they sang each hymn, concluding with Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus”.
Saints Peter and Paul Inducts Newest Members of the National Honor Society
Congratulations to the following students who were inducted into the Dominican Chapter of the Saints Peter & Paul National Honor Society. The students met and exceeded the four guiding principles of Scholarship, Service, Character, and Leadership. Their intellectual abilities are apparent in the classroom, and their resumes spoke volumes of the depth and diversity of their participation, service, and leadership in and out of school.
In addition to their other service activities, the National Honor Society commits their time and talent in coordinating the largest peer tutoring organization in the school. These young people exemplify the finest qualities of the National Honor Society and Sabre Pride! Congratulations and well done!

Organist-Composer John Dixon to Perform at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church

John Dixon
On Friday, October 15 at 7 pm, composer and organist John Dixon will perform a concert of original organ music on the newly installed three-manual Rodgers organ at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church at 1210 S. Washington Street in Easton, MD. The concert, sponsored by the Mid-Shore Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, is free and open to the public. A free will offering will be received.
Born in England in 1957, Dixon grew up about fifty miles east of London, near the Thames River estuary. Starting piano studies at age six, he progressed to pipe organ at age eleven. His first composition for public performance was the score to an original book for a youth theatre production while at the young age of sixteen. Interestingly, he did not choose to make music his major field of study but was active in music and theater while studying for the bachelor of arts degree at Oxford University and later at Harvard, where he earned an MBA.
After moving to the United States in 1988, Dixon became a member of Providence Presbyterian Church in Norfolk, VA, where he currently serves as Organist and Composer-in-Residence.
Early in his compositional career, the composer concentrated on writing anthems for choir and organ voluntaries for church use. More recently, he has been writing for professional performers, small ensembles and full orchestra. An active member of the American Guild of Organists, Dixons music has been distributed at numerous annual conventions and has been performed all over the world.
Following the October 15 concert, John Dixon will lead a workshop on Saturday morning, also at Saints Peter and Paul Church, on Saturday, October 16 beginning at 10 am where he will use his own compositions to demonstrate creative organ playing and service planning. This event is also open to the public.
Mid-Shore Education: Saints Peter and Paul School Takes a Big Step
Saints Peter and Paul first built a school in Easton in 1990 as a temporary structure with only 14,000 square feet, or about the size of a large ACE hardware store. That building was so well designed that it has taken two decades for the School, its volunteer leaders, and the Diocese of Wilmington, to decide to build a new facility adjacent to its main church on South Washington Street.
That decision did not come easily since the new building, as well as a new family center for the Parish, came in with a price tag of $18 million. That was one extremely large enchilada for any institution on the Mid-Shore to take on. Still, with passionate leadership, a devoted community, and perhaps some spiritual support, almost $16 million has been raised, and ground has been broken.
Interested in all of the Eastern Shore’s small mouses that roar, the Spy sat down with two key stakeholders, Father James Nash, pastor for the Church and School, and Saints Peter and Paul School principal, James Nemeth, to better understand its master plan.
This video is approximately four minutes in length. For more information about Saints Peter and Paul please go here.
