Avast me hardies! Buccaneers and landlubbers of all ages – Graybeard, Rock Hall’s legendary laid-back pirate, orator and leader of men, invites you back to Rock Hall, Md. for the Pearl of the Chesapeake’s THIRD swashbuckling extravaganza!
Come by land or come by sea to the Town of Rock Hall on the Isle of Delmarva located on the Upper Chesapeake Bay for a two-day town-wide theme party you will not forget! This is a wonderful opportunity to bring your boat – anchor out or raft up with your mates. There is plenty of anchorage, dockage and raft-up space available as well as plenty of parking for those arriving by land. Rock Hall is less than a tank of gas from Philadelphia, Baltimore, D.C and Northern Virginia.
Arrive early on Friday evening and join the Sea Shanty Sing Along at Bay Wolf Restaurant. Dine in one of the award-winning restaurants, settle in and enjoy the night’s live entertainment, or just relax under the stars. Among the many planned activities on Saturday is a decorated dinghy flotilla in the harbor and a race to the public beach. (The size of your dinghy doesn’t matter.).
This event will include a casting off party at the Harbor Shack Restaurant and a Caribbean-style beach party where participants will plunder the treasures of Graybeard on Rock Hall’s beach. Costumes are strongly encouraged! All weekend, the whole town will be in the pirate spirit as businesses, residents, re-enactors, musicians and other performers take you to the Golden Age of piracy on the high seas. Some of the pirates offering up some music and mayhem will include The Brigands, Inishowen, Lizard Creek, Pirates for Sail, Sea Rats Atlantic, The Salty Dogs, and Valhalla’s Pirates.
Artisans, crafters, pirate tale-tellers and more will be invading the town. There will be plenty of grub and grog for all and public parking and transportation will make getting around safe and worry free. On Saturday night, the Grand Buccaneer’s Ball will take place at Waterman’s Crab House where pirates will find music, contests, prizes and excellent crabs and seafood. Pirate attire is requested for the evening and trophies will be awarded for the best costumes at the ball. Graybeard’s look-alike will be chosen and his giant treasure chest full of surprises will be given away.
The little scallywags will find much to do in the Kid’s Cove with games, crafts, entertainment, treasure hunts, tattoos and more. On Sunday be sure not to miss the town-wide treasure hunt, the kids and pet costume contest, and the live pirate encampment. There will be fun all weekend for the whole family! As Graybeard says, “Nice pirates live here.”
