The Blake Thompson Band returns to The Mainstay on Saturday, July 11th at 7:30 PM for what promises to be a very special evening of music.
Many Mainstay patrons may already be familiar with Blake Thompson, whose family roots run deep in Kent County. Over the years, Blake has built an impressive career as a guitarist, singer, songwriter, and performer, appearing throughout the country with his wife and musical partner, Kate Russo Thompson. Together they bring a powerful blend of rock, blues, soul, Americana, and original music to the stage.
What makes this performance particularly unique is that the Blake Thompson Band is truly a family affair. Blake and Kate are joined by their four talented children, each contributing their own musical gifts to the group. Blake Jr. performs on drums, piano, and vocals, Sarah contributes guitar and vocals, Josie Pearl anchors the band on bass, and Rachel, the youngest member of the family, continues to impress audiences with a voice and stage presence well beyond her years.
Those who attended previous appearances at The Mainstay have already seen firsthand what makes this family so special. There is a genuine chemistry that comes from years of making music together. The performances are polished and professional, but they never lose the warmth and spontaneity that comes from family members sharing the stage.
In many ways, this concert is about more than the music itself. It is a chance to witness a family tradition unfolding in real time. Parents and children, each accomplished musicians in their own right, come together to create something that feels authentic, joyful, and refreshingly sincere.
While the band performs far beyond the Eastern Shore, there is still a strong connection to Kent County that makes this appearance feel a little like a homecoming. That local connection, combined with the group’s remarkable talent, should make for a memorable evening in The Mainstay’s intimate listening room.
In a musical world increasingly shaped by technology and studio production, the Blake Thompson Band reminds us of the enduring power of live performance, family collaboration, and genuine musicianship.
The Blake Thompson Band will perform at The Mainstay in Rock Hall on Saturday, July 11th at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $25 and may be purchased at www.mainstayrockhall.org or by calling 410-639-9133.
