Kudos to my friend Len who worked so hard to get this done! It seemed impossible, but I never doubt my friend’s resolve to get difficult things done.
It seems to me, from the articles and discussions I have read in the Chestertown Spy, that the reality is that Mr. Espinal entered the United States unlawfully. He has remained in the nation for at least 20 years and while he has evidently been self-supportive and a provider of pastoral services to some, those attributes do not alter his illegal status. I don’t see that it matters how, when or why he is in the U. S., he is here illegally. He has had some 20 years to find a manner of making himself a legal resident but evidently has not chosen to do so.
There are certain issues that one simply cannot have both ways. Illegal immigration is one of them.
Bill, would you support an immigration policy that would allow immigrants like Pastor Espinal to to stay?
It must be nice for Bil Anderson to have such a well defined world view, as to what is right and wrong, and to be unfettered by such things as the nuances of compassion. Non-represenative A. Harris likes to say that they should get in line with everyone else. Well, there is no line, nor was there ever, for them to get into. What is needed is is compressive immigration reform, not a draconian push to rid the country of “illegals”. MAGA, led by the deporter in chief, one Stephen Miller, won’t let that happen. He is obsessed with returning the country to that magical time when all we had to do was get rid of the native Americans.
