Congressman Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) made the following statement about the release of findings by Special Counsel Robert Mueller on the 2016 presidential campaign for President Trump:
“The United States government has spent two years, $25 million dollars, and a ridiculous amount of wasted time and energy on a special counsel that has officially exonerated the president from allegations of collusion with the Russian government during his 2016 presidential campaign.
According to the Attorney General, there was no collusion between President Trump and the Russian government, and there was no obstruction of justice. Now it’s time to move on and take care of the things that the American people really care about, like the economy and border security.”
Joe Lill says
After two years and $25 million dollars Attorney General William Barr took 48 hours to decide that there was not enough evidence to charge Donald Trump with obstruction of justice, something that Special Counsel Robert Mueller could NOT do in two years. Prior to his appointment as Attorney General, William Barr wrote a letter saying that a sitting President could not be charged with obstruction of justice. Why? Is a sitting President, who is also a United States citizen, above the same laws that the rest of us are subject too? Attorney General William Barr served as Judge and Jury to make his decision. More transparency needs to happen to lift the fog of the last two years. During that time Congress can still make headway on other matters of business.

For the congressman’s information this constituent is interested more in the better, cheaper healthcare that covers more people promised by the President 2 years ago. It’s time to get to work representatives Harris. House leader Pelosi can use your help and expertise. Try a little bipartisanship. The economy of the Eastern shore would have been helped by more seasonal visas for crabpickers.

Well, this was certainly unexpected! Let him gloat along with the occupant of the White House. Are we to take Barr’s 4-page “summary” as the end of this? I will never understand how a meeting in Trump Tower with a Russian spy and members of the Trump election committee, including his son doesn’t constitute collusion. Barr has made a sham of the investigation. It’s time for Congress to act and act quickly. They can’t take two years as Mueller did. The probable collusion is only one of the reasons why the president should be impeached. Far more important is the fact that he is now and always has been corrupt and now he is incompetent, probably due to cognitive decline. Nancy, wake up and do what needs to be done.

Read the report have you Andy? Get real.

NO !
That is exactly wrong. The report said it does NOT exonerate Trump ! If that had been the case Muller said he would have said so. Trump did select Attorney General Barr to publish a misleading summary and it looks like Congressman Harris only read the Barr document.
ALSO what did not happen was any communication between Trump and the FBI when he and his campaign people discovered Russian intent and acts. Trump and kids are on record at least being aware of what was happening.
As to the obstruction of justice material….it was presented. Muller, taking the legal position that is is the role of Congress to charge and convict in cases of impeachment said not file charges. Is was an investigation ! . The report presents evidence. Plenty…but not all the cases ready for prosecution.
Now it is time to get that man away from control of government. He is attempting to rule by edict ….The Senate is allowing it.
Finally, do not quote the Attorney General…he is acting as a Trump lawyer. Trump has a view of all lawyers as people who allow him to avoid prosecution for crimes. The role of the Attorney General is to advise the president….not protect him…….That should not be a surprise to a member of congress.
