Last week my cousin, who must use a walker to get around, broke her wrist. Our wonderful Rescue Squad (thank you Maurice) took her to the Emergency Room at the Hospital in Chestertown. As there was not an available bed in the hospital, and due to unexpected circumstances, she stayed in the ER for two days. During her stay in the ER, I was there a great deal of the time and I cannot say enough complimentary things about her treatment. The ER was extremely busy but the staff was very attentive and a doctor saw her within a reasonable time. Under the circumstances it was a very positive experience.
We are very fortunate to have our Hospital and it must stay open not only as an ER but also as an “in-bed” operation.

I personally don’t think it should closed due to how far the next hospital is but there still needs some major help. I went to the local college and had three visits there one time I was misdiagnosed for a cold a day later I had to go back because I couldn’t breathe then finally got diagnosed with bronchitis. Another time I went there for an injury from a game. The doctor said I severely sprained it. I had that injury many times before but this time the pain was 10x worse. But I went with there diagnosis and did rehab so I can continue playing. When I got to my home town a couple months later I did I check up with my specialist to make sure all the muscles healed correctly because I was still dealing with pain. During this time I found out that I actually had fractured my leg in two places. I was lucky that I did rehab with the school because it healed correctly. But if I was out of season I would have just walked off the pain which would have significantly increased the risk of me complely breaking the bone.

Glad to hear you had a positive experience at the hospital. A family member was in the ER on several occasions and he too received prompt attention from staff. It is important to keep the ER as well as other facilities of the hospital in our community.
