On First Friday, September 2, The Artists Gallery will feature “Paths of Life,” a new portrait series by Evie Baskin. For this exhibition, Evie has painted ten pastel portraits of people in uniform who live and work in Kent and Queen Anne’s Counties.
This is Baskin’s fourth portrait show since moving to the Eastern Shore in in the spring of 2008. Each of these shows has focused on one of her favorite subjects–the amazing collection of people who live on the Eastern Shore in Kent and Queen Anne’s Counties. This includes the born-heres, the come-heres, and the never-want-to-leave heres.
Evie Baskin’s rich palette and uncanny ability to capture the spark that lies beneath the surface are common threads in all her oil and pastel portraits. Over the years, Baskin’s portraits have continued to evolve and win awards, garnering recognition in Chestertown, Kent Island and Chesapeake College.
Evie Baskin has a BA from Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida and has studied with Danni Dawson, Rob Liberace, Mary Pritchard and Claudia Post. She is a member of the Working Artists Forum in Easton, Chestertown RiverArts, and the Portrait Society of America, In 2015, she became an accredited member of The Maryland Society of Portrait Painters and a partner in The Artists Gallery.
The public is invited to visit The Artists Gallery on September 2, 2016 from 5-8 p.m. for light refreshments and libations. Evie’s show will be featured in The Artists Gallery throughout the month of September. The Artists Gallery is located at 239 High Street in Chestertown, MD and is open Tuesday–Saturday from 10-5 and Sunday, from 12:30 – 4:30.
