The Garfield Center for the Arts in Chestertown and the Mainstay in Rock Hall had a kind of a blind date last Saturday night. Coming together to host their first joint concert with a performance with the Brooklyn-based Pigpen Theatre Company at the Prince Theatre, Rory Trainor, the Mainstay’s new director, and Tess Hogan, Garfield’s manager, fulfilled for many in the community a long standing wish that these remarkable organizations would find opportunities to work together.
In their Spy interview, Rory and Tess talk about their first collaboration and how the group Pigpen was a natural selection for both organization and their missions. They also discuss they plan to look at future ways to connect to bring some of the country’s best up-and-coming performers to Kent County.
By the way, there was a full house on Saturday night.
