Just when you thought Chestertown would not be seeing any kind of expansion of health facilities anytime in the near future, UM-Shore Regional Health announced yesterday that it was going forward in opening a new “Medical Pavilion” on Philosopher’s Terrace this summer.
Construction is now underway at the new facility – located at 126 Philosopher’s Terrace in Chestertown – which will provide roughly 11,000 square feet of office space to multiple physicians, including primary care and medical specialists.
“University of Maryland Shore Regional Health and our affiliate, University of Maryland Community Medical Group, are very excited for the opportunity to offer our patients in Kent and Queen Anne’s Counties accessible primary care and various clinical and surgical specialties in a centralized location,” comments William Huffner, MD, MBA, FACEP, FACHE, chief medical officer, UM Shore Regional Health. “We are currently recruiting a number of medical specialists who will see patients at this new location.”
Kenneth Kozel, MBA, FACHE, president and CEO, UM Shore Regional Health adds, “We strive to provide high quality, accessible healthcare services and programs to the patients we serve throughout the five-county region. This new space is conveniently located near the hospital and the heart of Chestertown to allow our patients convenient access to primary and specialty physicians.”
Stephan Sonn says
Just curious, would this be a UMMS staffed facility as is done in Easton?
Gerard S O'Connor, MD says
Just to let Stephan Sonn and everyone else know this new “pavilion” has been in the works for some time. It is NOT actually providing new services just moving these services from “Regulated” space to “Unregulated ” space ie. not controlled by HSCRC.Health services cost review commission….just a shrewed maneuver to make the books look good. Staffing will be the same as they have now just move from one building to another.Sounds good though doesnt it?
