In addition to our regularly scheduled book groups, computer classes, and Friday films, KCPL is offering two special programs for adults in August. On Wednesday, August 5th, Getting Started with Gale Courses will provide an in-person orientation for anyone interested in taking free online classes. This program is designed to teach you how to register for classes, introduce the online learning environment, and give you a chance to ask questions about the process or course offerings. But it’s not too late. Check it out now.
From their calendar:
Gale Courses gives you access to a wide range of highly interactive, instructor led courses that are taught entirely online. Courses run for six weeks and new sessions begin every month. As a library card holder, you are entitled to these courses at no cost.

Getting Ready for Class
Visit KCPL’s Digital Library and choose Gale Courses to view the full course catalog or to enroll in an upcoming session.
When you enroll in a course, you must log in and view lessons one and two within 13 days after the start date of the course. If you do not, you will be automatically dropped from the course.
Students who are dropped from a course will be able to enroll in the course during a later session.

Later in the month, on Wednesday, August 19th at 5:30pm, yoga instructor Fletcher Johnson will be teaching Intro to Chair Yoga. Chair yoga is a great way to stretch while alleviating pressure on the joints. It is perfect for first timers, people with physical limitations, and those who wish to experience ‘regular’ yoga poses in a different way. Registration is required for both Getting Started with Gale Courses and Chair Yoga.
