The Garfield Center Playmakers invite you to their summer production, “Peter Pan and Wendy” on Friday, July 31 and Saturday, August 1 at 7 pm with a 3 pm matinee performance on Sunday, August 2.
Playmakers have had expert guidance while rehearsing, building the set, and designing costumes over the last four weeks. Chestertown resident Heller Halliday reminisced about growing up and being on the set with her mother, Mary Martin, arguably the most famous portrayer of Peter Pan. Keith Colston, representing Larry Yazzie and the Native Pride Dancers, discussed his culture, tribal differences, and symbolism of their clothing, dance, and drumming. Sword master Shizumi Mandale explained the intricacies of swordsmanship for a more realistic fight scene with the pirates. These appearances were courtesy of the Hedgelawn Foundation.
The play is co-directed by Catherine Bushby and Tess Hogans.
