On Sunday, June 7th, the Working Artists Forum (WAF) opened their Ninth Annual Memorial Show at Heron Point in Chestertown, Maryland. WAF is a non-profit organization, composed of 91 member artists, who meet monthly and exhibit their work in a variety of venues throughout the year.
As judge for the show, Marcy Dunn Ramsey and was on hand during the afternoon reception to meet the artists and provide critiques for each of the winning works- a rare treat, and one that many artists rarely have a chance to hear in person.
Best in Show was awarded to Patti Lucas Hopkins for her lovely oil painting, “Pomegranate, Apple and Orange.”
Three Judges Awards of Excellence were given to the following artists: Linda Hall for her atmospheric watercolor, “Humid Morning Light,” Karen Wood for her vibrant oil painting, “Barn with Blue Doors,” and Joanne Scott for her delightful watercolor monotype, “Roses II.”
Four Honorable Mentions were also awarded: Linda Hall for her watercolor, “Amaryllis I,” Nancy Thomas for her oil painting, “Iris Fantasy,” Barbara Zuehlke for her watercolor, “By-Gones #4,” and Carol Argen Thomas for her collage, “The Red Door.”
The show will hang daily throughout the month of June. Please sign in at the desk prior to viewing. Heron Point is located at 501 East Campus Avenue in Chestertown. For more information about The Working Artists Forum, please see www.workingartistsforum.com.
