Downtown Chestertown Association invites you to join us for what we hope will be a sunny spring afternoon of music and merriment on Saturday, May 2 at our inaugural Porchfest. Nine different musical acts will play on residential front porches and in front of shops between noon and 5pm. Visitors can enjoy the sounds of bluegrass, jazz and even celtic music as they discover new shops, galleries and restaurants. The unique variety of historic homes and buildings, along with our tree-lined brick sidewalks, will serve as the perfect stage for showcasing our local talent.
The festival begins at noon just as you’ll be finishing up your shopping at the Chestertown Farmers’ and Artisans’ Market. Walk over to Chesapeake Bank and Trust at the corner of High and Cross Streets for the first Porchfest act, the Van Williamson Trio. Clovelly Vineyards will also be at Chesapeake Bank and Trust from 12 – 4pm selling their Riverside Red for you to sip and enjoy while you stroll. The Chester River Packet will be docked at the foot of High Street for an open house from 12 – 2pm so you can step aboard to meet the crew and learn more about their spring cruises.
Visual arts will also abound this May First Friday Weekend. Art@Chestertown, a collaboration of eight nationally recognized artists and galleries, will be hosting a pop-up gallery on the second floor of 113 South Cross Street from 10am – 6pm. The artists are staging a re-creation of their successful exhibit at February’s American Craft Council Show in Baltimore. This is for one week only and not to be missed!
Our shops and galleries are filled with new spring arrivals, and our restaurants are serving fresh seasonal dishes.
A new event calls for a new logo, and Downtown Chestertown Association is pleased to announce that Evyson Beasely submitted the winning design. Mr. Beasley is the principal of Evyson Advertising & Design, based in Chestertown, Maryland. Learn more about his work and view his portfolio at https://evyson.com/.
