Auditions for the Garfield Center for the Arts’ April production of “Enchanted April” will be held on Tuesday, February 24 and Thursday, February 26 at 6 pm and Saturday, February 28 at 11 am. Based on the novel by Elizabeth von Arnim, playwright Matthew Barber gives us an award-winning play. Those who remember the movie will surely want to be involved in this charming, heartwarming comedy.
In 1922, just four years after “The Great War,” two frustrated London housewives decide to rent a villa in Italy. Hoping for a break from the bleak English weather, and their even bleaker marriages, they recruit two very different English women to share the cost and the experience. There, among the wisteria blossoms and Mediterranean sunshine, all four bloom again – rediscovering themselves in ways that they – and we – could never have expected.
Director Diane Landskroener seeks to cast five women and three men, in ages ranging from late 20s to 60 or so, and encourages everyone with an interest in performing on stage to try out. Actors will perform in various accents, English and Italian, but auditioners with no experience should not shy away. You can be taught!
Performances are scheduled for three weekends: April 17-19, April 24-26 and May 1-3.
