The Chestertown holiday season officially kicks off on Friday, November 28 at 6:45 p.m. in Fountain Park when members of the Kent County Community Marching Band herald Santa’s arrival by fire truck at 7:00 p.m. Santa will see children in his house from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., as Boy Scout Troop 130 takes pictures of children with Santa, and Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts will be selling hot chocolate, cider and cookies in the park.
The Annual Kent County Christmas Parade takes place Saturday, November 29th at 10:00 a.m., rain/snow or shine!! One of the most popular holiday activities, the parade features marching bands, the Rough Riders, classic automobiles, various floats, Santa and of course his elves. Participation in the parade is open to everyone, whether they want to march or enter a float; call 410-778-6929 for more information.
Santa will be in his house seeing children after the Parade, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and every Saturday through December 20 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Children will receive bags from Santa with coloring books and crayons, and a coupon for a goodie bag, compliments of Chestertown Natural Foods.
The annual, nationwide “Small Business Saturday” takes place the Saturday, November 29, and is an opportunity to support local, independently owned small businesses in doing some of your holiday shopping in town. Downtown Chestertown offers a variety of unique businesses, offering small to large items, and Small Business Saturday is a great time to get to know them.
