On Saturday, November 15, at 7 p.m., Kent Chamber Music welcomes back the Annapolis Chamber Players to perform at the second concert of its chamber music series held at Hotchkiss Recital Hall at Washington College in downtown Chestertown, Maryland.
Performing chamber music from the Baroque to the 21st century, this year the Annapolis Chamber Players’ program is entitled “Romantic Gems.” The featured works on tonight’s concert provide an overview of Romantic chamber music. The ensemble will be performing works by Paul Agricole Genin, Louise Farrenc and Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy. Although Mendelssohn is always a chamber music favorite, and his Piano Trio No. 1 in D minor, Op. 49 (which the ensemble will be performing) is one of Mendelssohn’s most popular and greatest chamber works, the compositions by the other two lesser-known composers, Genin and Farrenc, are as enchanting and satisfying.
Annapolis Chamber Players is composed of some of the finest Baltimore-Washington, DC area musicians. Its core members have been collaborating for more than 15 years. Phyllis Crossen-Richardson is the ensemble’s artistic director and clarinetist. She is also a lecturer at Washington College. Other members include Gail Vehslage, flute; Elizabeth Meszaros Richards, cello; and Hui-Chuan Chen, piano.
The concert will be held at Hotchkiss Recital Hall, Gibson Center for the Arts at Washington College, 300 Washington Avenue (Route 213), Chestertown, at 7 pm. Tickets may be purchased at the door for $15. Students with a valid ID may purchase tickets for $1.
We hope you will join us for this wonderful evening of music brought to you in part by the generous financial support of the Kent County Arts Council and the Hedgelawn Foundation.
