Magic spells were cast this weekend throughout Chestertown during the well attended Harry Potter Festival, a major fundraiser for Garfield Center for the Arts. From Fountain Park to Sultana, the town as we knew it was transformed into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the ongoing quest to overcome the dark wizard Lord Voldemort (who I think hid in Stams Hall clock tower during the weekend for fear of being overwhelmed by mirth.)
The Spy salutes, or better yet, tips our magic wand in praise of all who made this weekend a spectacular success, adding to the ever-growing reputation of Chestertown as a destination place to go for fun, world-class arts, history, waterfront events and Washington College.
We thank Jan Ross for the majority of these great photographs. More will be added through out the day, so come on back!
Note: Featured and top image are Miriam and Solomon Bradley, who flew across the treetops from Virginia to attend the Festival with us.

It was great fun, even for the adults, many of whom dressed up like the professors at Hogwarts. The magician at the Garfield Center on Friday evening was awesome.

Accolades to everyone involved in putting this fantastic weekend in place. The streets and stores were very busy, a reward to the businesses that got in on the true flavor of the event. The smiles on the children’s (and adults) faces were priceless. Hopefully the “talk on the street” of it returning next year is true, as Potter fans will spread the word as to how wonderful it was, ensuring an even bigger crowd. Bravo to all the organizers and volunteers!
