HSKC Hero Looks For Home

“Jesse”, Humane Hero of the Month gave lifesaving transfusion to another shelter dog.

She doesn’t yet have her own Facebook fan page, but she has quite a following! Jesse, a favorite of staff and long-time volunteers at The Humane Society of Kent County, is a young dog with lots of personality and the floppy ears to match!

You would never guess Jesse is two years old. When she arrived at the shelter last fall, her puppy-like spirit became readily apparent. Immediately, the HSKC staff brought this sweet Bull Terrier/American Staffordshire Terrier mix into a daily doggie playgroup, hoping to give her some much-needed exercise. Jesse enjoyed romping and playing with the two dogs in the group for a long time.

Jesse walks well on a leash and loves to play with toys. She is intelligent, highly trainable, and good with other non-dominant dogs. Because of her high energy, Jesse would do well in a home without cats or very young children.

Jesse also gets a merit badge for giving a blood transfusion to another shelter dog!
