For the second year, Chestertown RiverArts and Community Mediation Upper Shore have joined together to produce “Art in Bloom,” a celebration of the art of floral design. This June 22 and 23, the RiverArts Galleries will be full of floral arrangements inspired by the artworks exhibited in RiverArts’ two June exhibitions, The Musical Muse and Color, Rhythm and Harmony.
On Sunday, June 22, from 4-7 p.m. all are invited to a Patron’s Reception to view the floral and wall art while enjoying gourmet hors d’oeuvres, cash bar, music, and a silent auction. Music lovers will want to bid on a private performance by the Pam Ortiz Band, for bird-watchers, we’re offering a chance to catch, band and release birds, followed by lunch at Linda and Hanson Robbins’ home on the river, and, for the sportsman, a Fly-fishing demonstration/lesson, also followed by a lavish lunch by the Chester. And these are just a few of the many exciting items available in the silent auction.
New to the event this year is a Fashion Show and Champagne Celebration on Monday, June 23, from 3-5 p.m. See the latest fashions from Houston’s Dockside Emporium and Mimi’s Closet over champagne and hors d’oeuvres.
Tickets to Sunday’s Art in Bloom Patron’s Reception are $25; tickets to the Champagne Celebration and Fashion Show are $35. Both may be purchased in advance online at https://chestertownriverarts.org/events/art-in-bloom/, or at the RiverArts Galleries.
Last year’s Art in Bloom event was among the most popular held at RiverArts in 2013. More than 140 people attended the Sunday Reception, raising $8,200 for the two organizations. Lani Seikaly, president of the RiverArts Board of Directors, said, “The art hanging on the gallery walls is already a treat. But to see how our talented floral artists interpreted that art through their floral arrangements was absolutely amazing.”
Proceeds from Art in Bloom go to support Community Mediation Upper Shore, whose mission is to provide accessible conflict resolution services through mediation, education and training for the folks of Kent, Queen Anne’s and Cecil Counties, and Chestertown RiverArts, a community arts center with a spectacular gallery and an extensive program of exhibitions, education and community outreach activities.
