Dear Editor:
This year, we celebrate the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Smith-Lever Act, which established the Cooperative Extension Service. In Maryland, Extension allows us all to benefit from the research and education of our land-grant university, the University of Maryland.
The University of Maryland Extension has improved the lives of Marylanders in many ways. If you’ve learned how to start a farm or garden, conserve water, gotten disease and insect help, nutrient management advice, or learned how to choose healthier food, chances are you learned it from Extension. If you’ve ever been to a 4-H camp or gotten help from a Master Gardener, you know Extension.
On our 100th Anniversary, University of Maryland Extension in Kent County is proud of its accomplishments, but we look continually towards the future, finding solutions to the challenges we Marylanders will face in the next 100 years and sharing them to make life healthier, happier, and more prosperous for you.
Sincerely,
Emily M. Joyce
