On Sun, Mar 2, 10 AM, Dr. David Newell will give a sermon entitled “Blessed Are the Poor?” to the Unitarian Universalists of the Chester River, 914 Gateway Dr., Chestertown. Many people ignore the unjust divisions that wealth and poverty create, while others are paralyzed into inaction by them. Is there a third way of looking at these divisions, based on the “inherent worth and dignity of every person,” that is neither blind nor paralyzing? How might the “inherent worth and dignity” principle serve to inspire our pursuit of social justice? Join in this discussion as we look at the many faces of poverty and the ways in which we can all respond.
Religious education for youngsters, as well as infant and toddler care, will be provided during our service; all are welcome. Please call for more information at 410-778-3440 or email [email protected].
