On February 18, USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service will offer you a unique opportunity to participate in the national dialogue on cover crops and soil health. Mark your calendar to attend a streaming video presentation from the National Conference on Cover Crops and Soil Health in Omaha, Nebraska, at two locations in Maryland.
The central theme of this national forum is to discuss what we can do, collectively, to increase the health and function of our soil – one farm at a time. We’ve asked you to participate in this event because your thoughts, insights, support and participation will be critical to our efforts in Maryland. Join us at 8:45 a.m. to learn why improving soil health may be the most important conservation endeavor of our generation.
At 10 a.m., we will join a live feed from Nebraska with Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack and Howard G. Buffett. Next, you’ll hear from farmers who are national leaders in improving soil health. This will lead us into a facilitated discussion to uncover new opportunities and identify barriers to improving soil health in Maryland.
An email invitation with more information will be sent shortly. RSVP to Nora De La Rosa at [email protected] or 443-482-2907 by February 6th.
Maryland farmers, agriculture and conservation professionals interested in advancing soil health and cover crops in Maryland should consider attending on tuesday, February 18, 8:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The live feed will stream at two locations:
- Prince George’s Agricultural Service Center, 5301 Marlboro Race Track Rd. Upper Marlboro, MD 20772 (basement entrance)
- University of Maryland Extension Wicomico County Office 28647 Old Quantico Rd. Salisbury, MD 21801
