Join in Chestertown’s community-wide Mardi Gras celebration by making your own mask at RiverArts.
On Friday, January 31 and Saturday, February 1, everyone is invited to have fun releasing their ‘inner child’ with Theresa Schram, local artist and teacher at Kent School. Theresa’s vibrant and playful oil paintings have been exhibited several times in the RiverArts Gallery, as well as galleries in Easton, St. Michaels, Annapolis, Parole, and Wye Mills. She has been painting for 20 years, having received her Fine Arts degree from Salisbury University.
This two-part workshop will be given from 11:00 AM to 3 PM on Friday, and 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Saturday. Cost is $45.00 per person. If masks aren’t your thing, Theresa will also help in the creation of mini parade floats and dioramas of the Big Easy. Basic supplies such as paper mache, paint, brushes, glue, feathers, beads, and cardboard will be provided, but participants are encouraged to bring in personal treasures like old jewelry, bits of used costumes, ribbons, netting, miniature action figures, or anything else you can think of to make your creation more exciting.
Final products will be on display at RiverArts during the Mardi Gras celebration. To sign up today for this workshop, go to www.chestertownriverarts.org and click on the ‘classes’ icon, email us at [email protected], call 410 778 6300, or stop in at the Gallery, 315 High Street, Suite 106.
Registration deadline is Tuesday, January 28, so sign up today !
