The last thing the Chestertown waterfront task force chair John Moag wanted was to step back into the public arena after a rewarding but exhausting role as Maryland’s former stadium authority chairman, and who is credited as being a primary force behind securing an NFL team for the City of Baltimore after the Colts left.
But after being connected to Chestertown since he came to hunt geese forty-two years ago, he, like many other volunteers of the task force, could not turn down the Town and Washington College’s request to help develop a game plan to help solve Chestertown’s growing economic challenges.
From his kitchen table at his home a few miles outside of town, John talks with the Spy about his background with Chestertown and the Eastern Shore, starting with attending Washington College in the early 1970s to his present role as chair of Chestertown’s joint town and college committee. John also comments about his role in bringing the Ravens to Baltimore, and how perception without facts can get in the way of a good idea.
