The Spy has obtained a full accounting of revenue and expenses for the Remembrance Park project.
The park, located on Horsey Lane between Queen Street and Philosopher’s Terrace, was dedicate in November of 2012 and provides a place for citizens to buy commemorative plaques for loved ones. The park was largely funded with a $139,000 grant from the Maryland Dept. of Natural Resources Community Parks & Playground Program.
Total revenues for the project came to $176,000 and expenses since 2009 have come to $185,000. The $9,000 difference was paid from the general fund and represents less than 5 percent of the total project costs.
Chestertown Zoning Administrator Kees de Mooy, said the $9,000 shortfall will be made up over time as more plaques are purchased from the town.
