Editor,
A tragedy for both men & their families. I’ve never understood the rationale for having bicyclists ride w/ — rather than against — the closest lane of traffic, significantly reducing their chances of noticing & avoiding dangerously errant drivers. Having spent many years running on roads (& much of that in the days before widespread cell phone usage), I know how many inattentive drivers are out there & likely to drift right at you.
That’s why I always ride against traffic; I’d prefer a traffic citation to a trip to the morgue.
Perhaps it’s time to reevaluate that law.
