The Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra’s 2013-2014 Season Series will showcase powerful performances of great music and world-renowned soloists for you to enjoy, be energized, and inspired by. For the Season Premiere on October 10, 7:30 PM at Easton Church of God, Maestro Julien Benichou has selected a delightful repertoire of two great masterworks and has invited a special guest artist to herald the beginning of the “Season of Discovery”.

Arnaud Sussmann, a rising star on the violin, soloist with the MSO October 10th.

Multi-faceted and compelling French artist, violinist Arnaud Sussmann, will open the season performing Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto in D Major, Op. 35.  The Concerto was composed in 1878 and is one of the best known of all violin concertos.  It is also considered to be among the most technically difficult works for violin.  Mr. Sussmann has performed throughout the United States and worldwide earning the highest praise from both critics and audiences.  He studied with Boris Garlitsky and Itzhak Perlman, who chose him to be a Starling Fellow, an honor qualifying him as Mr. Perlman’s teaching assistant for two years.

The concert concludes with Franz Schubert’s Symphony No. 9 in C Major, D. 944.  Known as “The Great” C Major, this symphony, completed in 1826, just two years before his death, is life affirming, radiant, and full of energy.  From the standpoint of orchestration, rich thematic material and sheer majesty, the symphony is the pinnacle of Schubert’s symphonic maturity.  At 50 minutes, this is a large scale symphony, particularly for the 1820s.

Don’t miss this exciting performance at the Easton Church of God, 1009 N. Washington Street, Easton, MD on Thursday, October 10, at 7:30 pm.  Season subscriptions are $145 and individual tickets for this performance are $35.00. Tickets are available for check or cash at Crackerjacks.  A limited number of complimentary tickets are available to 18 year olds and under; however, reservations for these tickets must be made in advance.  This concert is also performed in Ocean View, DE on Saturday, October 12 at 7:30 pm, and in Ocean Pines, MD on Sunday, October 13 at 3:00 pm.  For more information or to order subscription or individual concert tickets, please call 1-888-846-8600 or visit the MSO Website www.midatlanticsymphony.org to download the season brochure and ticket order form.
