The State Highway Administration (SHA) will begin repair and rehabilitation of the MD 298 (Fairlee/Lambs Meadow Road) Bridge over Mill Creek in Kent County Monday, September 23rd. The $203,000 maintenance project is expected to be complete by mid to late October, weather permitting.
The project includes patching the concrete bridge deck (driving surface), repairing the concrete parapet walls and curbs and installing new railings. Additionally, SHA will pave the entire length of the bridge to enhance ride quality for motorists. Crews will also construct a median and widen the left turn lane for motorists exiting the bridge.
SHA will work Mondays through Fridays from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. Flaggers will alternate traffic across the bridge during repairs. In October, crews will close the bridge completely to traffic on weekends beginning Fridays at 7 p.m. through 5 a.m. Mondays. During the weekend road closures traffic will be detoured from the work site on Fairlee/Lambs Meadow Road south to MD 514 (Melitota Road) to Flatland Road to MD 291 (Morgnec Road) to (MD 297) Worton Road and then back to MD 298. Motorists traveling in the opposite direction will follow the identical detour in reverse order.
