Delegate Heather Mizeur, of Takoma Park, addressed the annual meeting of the Kent County League of Women Voters on Friday, April 19.
Mizeur owns a farm in Kent County and divides her time between the Eastern and Western Shore. She is a “rumored,” though seriously considered, candidate for the next gubernatorial election.
Mizeur delivered her talk with exceptional energy, clarity, and humor, covering issues including rolemodels, the challenges of women in government, double standards, environmental issues, and healthcare and family planning. The following short videos are excerpts from the speech, labeled by topic. Mizeur usually has a good story to go along with each.

A liberal, is a liberal is a liberal.
While I respect Ms. Miseur’s right to express her opinions, I disagree with her stands on most issues.
I believe she suggested that strongly held opinions by many citizens and state represenatives on the Eastern Shore are too conservative, and that the three big jurisdictions in Maryland,in Maryland, almost exclusively represented by Democrats, rule the state with a liberal iron fist. This is the problem in a one political party state. And. Ms. Miseur is a member of the majority party. Owning a farm in Kent County does not automatically produce votes for ones political philosophy.

I attended and listenened to the comments from Delegate Mizeur, and found akin to my own. In a time when virtually all politicicians
are seeking to divide rather than blend, she was obviously attempting to bridge the abyss. If only more were listeners rather than
partisan, much more would get accomplished for the common good..Hopefully, we can avoid the slide toward the abyss and back to the universal good for all.
