Garfield Announces 2012 Kenny Awards

September 26, 2012 by Garfield Center

Lester Barrett will of two recipients of the 2012 Kenny Awards at the Garfield Center on Saturday night.

The Garfield Center for the Arts  is proud to announce not one but TWO recipients for the 2012 Kenny Award! And the winners are: Lester Barrett, Jr. and Chestertown RiverArts. The award, which  will be presented at the Garfield’s Annual Gala this Saturday, September 29, is sponsored by the Hedgelawn Foundation.

Lester Barrett, Jr.

Audiences and fellow performers are inspired by Lester’s talent, impressed by his humility, and grateful for his community support. Lester’s commitment to his craft, his performance partners and his community is obvious.

While many of Lester’s fans believe that he should leave Kent County to pursue broader public recognition and fame, he doesn’t agree. “I think I’m right where God wants me to be,” says Lester. “I just gotta keep doing it.”

Chestertown RiverArts

The fusion of Chestertown Arts League and the Chester River Artworks celebrates a step forward for two giants in the local arts scene with their own rich histories and track record of excellence. The new organization is comprised of over 350 members who bring forward artistic talent and a great deal of energy to support the arts. Members are artists, lovers of art, and individuals who think that art can elevate community conversation.

Tickets for Saturday night’s gala event are available at www.GarfieldCenter.org and 410 810 2060.
