Where can you and your kids try sailing for free? Head down to the Rock Hall Yacht Club Sailing School (RHYCSS) spring Open House on Saturday, May 26 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to try your hand at sailing or a Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP). Located on Piney Neck at 22759 McKinleyville Road, Rock Hall, the RHYCSS is opening its beach and waterfront facilities to the public and members for a free water-oriented day.
RHYCSS instructors and volunteers will be on hand to help guests try out its fleet of one-design sailboats, as well as the latest “West Coast rage,” the Stand up Paddleboard (SUP). Visitors are advised to bring weather appropriate clothing and a PFD (personal flotation device) if they have one. As always, water sports are weather dependent and safety is the first priority.
Snacks and cold drinks will be available as well as a silent auction to benefit RHYCSS. The Rock Hall Yacht Club will offer incentives for new members; membership also provides discounts to the sailing school. For more information and questions about the RHYC Sailing School please email [email protected], call 410-775-TACK, or visit www.rhycsailingschool.org.
The mission of the RHYC Sailing School is to instill a lifelong love of sailing and the water in children and adults by teaching sailing skills in a structured, safe and fun environment. Six levels of sailing courses will be offered this summer, from beginners (starting at ages 5-7) to an advanced racing team. Courses are taught by experienced, US Sailing-certified instructors and safety is the foremost priority. The RHYCSS is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and donations are used for sailing school scholarships and equipment.
